A medical perspective
A careful review begins with the care you received.
Dr. Zaheer Shah has spent much of his professional life working with medical charts, X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. That familiarity with medical information informs his work when reviewing a potential malpractice case.
If you believe a nurse practitioner’s care caused an injury, we focus on the facts of your treatment: the information available at the time, the decisions made, and the outcome. A provider’s title alone does not establish whether malpractice occurred.
The standard of care
What makes an injury a malpractice claim?
An unwanted outcome does not automatically mean that a provider committed malpractice. Arizona law requires proof that a healthcare provider failed to meet the applicable standard of care and that the failure caused injury.
Was the care appropriate?
The review considers the care, skill, and knowledge expected of a reasonably prudent provider in the same profession or class under similar circumstances.
Did a failure cause harm?
A claim also needs a connection between the departure from the standard of care and the injury. The medical evidence is central to that question.
Arizona law: A.R.S. § 12-563.

The medical records
Charts, test results, imaging, and treatment notes help establish what was known and what care was provided.
The sequence of events
Understanding when symptoms were reported, decisions were made, and treatment occurred helps clarify the concerns about care.
The consequences
The review considers the injury, subsequent treatment, and the effect on the patient’s life.
The Dr. Lawyer Law Group uses this medical perspective to help assess your concerns and explain the potential legal issues.
